History & Mission Our Mission The Iowa Foster and Adoptive Parents Association empowers, supports and advocates for foster, adoptive and kinship families in Iowa. IFAPA provides training, peer support and resources to promote safety, permanency and well-being for Iowa's children. For over 36 years, the Iowa Foster and Adoptive Parents Association ( IFAPA ) has been a voice for Iowa's for and adoptive children through the support it provides to the parents of these children. In 1973, a group of foster parent joined together to create a membership organization for foster and adoptive families. IFAPA was originally operated these volunteer foster and adoptive parents, but because of the successful growth of the organization, staff were hired to continue with IFAPA's mission. IFAPA is 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) non-profit organization serving foster, adoptive and kinship parents in Iowa. Membership with the association is free for Iowa's foster, adoptive and kinship families. Iowa continues to have fiscal constraints that limit resources for additional programming to support Iowa's foster, adoptive and kinship families. On behalf of those families and their children, our association is asking for your finanacial support.
