Independence Jr & Sr High School

Independence Middle School serves students in grades six through eight. It offers various courses in English, math, science, art, social studies, language arts, music and physical education. The school also conducts classes in information technology and family and consumer science. Its sports activities include football, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, cross-country, and track and field. Independence Middle School also organizes several extracurricular activities, such as art fairs, musical shows, quiz contests, band concerts, choir nights and field trips. In addition, the school maintains a library and media center that stocks books and periodicals, as well as provides links to search engines. Located in Independence, Iowa, it is operated by the Independence Community School District, which enrolls more than 1,000 students in kindergarten through grade 12. The district serves the communities of Rowley, Brandon and Independence in Buchanan County, Iowa.
