Mid-Iowa Community Action is a private, nonprofit organization that serves children and families in central Iowa and has been operational for more than 30 years. Its child development program offers health and nutrition counseling, cognitive and social skills development and child care services. The agency s health programs provide food assistance, prenatal health care, immunizations, health screenings, postpartum and dental care, and HIV and AIDS support services. It also provides information on health insurance options, nutrition, breastfeeding and other health-related topics. The agency offers a variety of housing services, such as heating assistance, homelessness prevention and housing for elderly and disabled people.
