Superintendent s Office is a part of Martensdale-St. Marys Community School District. The office is responsible for the overall development of the district s schools. It makes agendas and policies for district s schools curriculum-based issues and financial problems. The Martensdale-St. Marys School District operates elementary- and secondary-level schools. The district s schools provide a range of academic programs in mathematics, science, English, language arts, Spanish and social studies. Its schools also offer classes in art, vocal music, physical education, industrial technology, computer applications, and family and consumer science. The Martensdale-St. Marys School District maintains a band and provides yearbooks. The district s schools athletic activities include basketball, softball, wrestling, cheerleading, and track and field.

Founded in 1975, Heartland Area Education Agency 11 works in partnership with public and accredited private schools to provide educational services, programs and resources for improving student achievement and building cultural competence. The agency s staff members serve students in kindergarten through grade 12, families, educators and communities. Heartland Area Education Agency 11 also funds about 150 special education staff positions for the Des Moines Public Schools. The agency is a public entity funded by federal and state aid, legislatively controlled property tax, grants, course tuition and the sale of educational products.
