Peshewa District, Sagamore Council BSA

Incorporated in 1910 and chartered by Congress in 1916, the Boy Scouts of America is one of the leading youth service organizations in the United States. The organization provides scouting programs for youths through its affiliate, the Sagamore Council. It offers educational programs for boys and young adults between the ages of 7 and 20 to build character, train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship and develop personal fitness. It operates six programs: Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, Webelos Scouts, Boy Scouting, Varsity Scouting and Venturing. Volunteer adult leaders serve at all levels of scouting in more than 300 nationwide councils. The Boy Scouts of America publishes two magazines: Boys' Life and Scouting. The organization s national council is supported largely through annual registration fees paid by all members, charter and service fees paid by local councils, and income from the sales of Boys' Life and Scouting magazines. The local councils are supported by communities through the Friends of Scouting campaign, the United Way, special events, foundation grants, investment income and individual donations. It maintains a presence in Kokomo, Ind.

Bridges OutreachBridges Outreach is a not-for-profit organization that was started in 2005 to serve youth in Kokomo, Indiana. The main goal of Bridges Outreach is to introduce youth to Christ and connect them to strong existing churches in our community. This non-denominational outreach builds relationships and manages programs that provide a safe environment for students in our community.Through programming during the school day and during the vital after-school hours, Bridges serves elementary students all the way through high school. Bridges Outreach takes a very holistic approach when it comes to serving youth. The ultimate goal of Bridges Outreach is to connect students to Jesus Christ, but we also know that students have emotional, social and academic needs that also must be met.What is Bridges OutreachBridges Outreach exists to bridge communities, schools and churches through programming that feeds, tutors, and mentors at-risk youth. Bridges Outreach creates windows of opportunity for youth with hopes of developing each student academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.
