The mission of the Michigan City Fire Department is to provide emergency response services, code enforcement, public education and ongoing training. With four stations covering approximately 21 square miles, the Michigan City Fire Department has an ISO rating of three. All of its approximately 85 firefighters are full-time fire professionals trained to act as first responders to structure and vehicle fires, wild fires, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents and water rescues.
