The La Porte Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that safeguards constitutional rights and preserves peace, order and safety. It undertakes cases related to domestic violence, missing persons, gun permits, noise checks, vehicle registration, drug abuse, gang activity, and accident and crime reporting and investigation. In addition, the La Porte Police Department performs duties related to animal control, code enforcement, court service, and detective and support operations. The department supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the use of illegal drugs, membership in gangs and violent behavior.
