At St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana, Dr. Heimansohn specializes in minimally invasive mitral valve surgery, aortic valve surgery, tricuspid valve surgery, valve replacement surgery, ascending aortic root surgery, aortic valve-sparing root replacement surgery, Maze procedures and TAVR procedures. Dr. Heimansohn and his colleagues at St. Vincent Heart Center use FDA-approved valves from Edwards Lifesciences (Sapien) and Medtronic (CoreValve). Valve surgery is 40 percent of the Heart Center's surgery volume .At St. Vincent Cardiovascular Research Institute, Dr. Heimansohn is an advisory board member and principal investigator of valve surgery techniques and cardiothoracic medical devices. He is an active physician-researcher involved in many types of single-site and multi-center clinical trials. Dr. Heimansohn is an avid heart and vascular medical educator and presenter at international and national cardiology meetings and scientific sessions.
