History

Both former teachers, we started our farm as a organically and sustainably operated farmstead, with the goal of producing everything we needed for our small family ourselves. Over the past two years, we have grown our soap operation significantly. We now offer have farmstands at the Bloomington Community Farmer's Market, Nashville Farmer's Market, and we offer our soaps for sale in Bloomingfoods, as well as several other small partner retailers in the Indianapolis and Bloomington areas. We offer over 10 staple varieties of soap, with seasonal varieties offered throughout the year. Though we have grown, we have kept our soap production 100% farm based, from the plant materials we add to our soaps (grown organically in our market garden) to our herd management, to soap production, to labeling and packaging. It all happens right here.

Specialties

Barnhouse Farms specializes in 100% natural goatsmilk soap. That means only sustainable oils (olive oil and coconut oil). Never any palm oil, soybean oil, or fragrance oils. Goatsmilk straight from our holistically managed Nubian goat herd. Happy goats and high quality ingredients make for a superior soap!
