The American Legion, founded in 1919 by an Act of Congress after World War I, is the nation's largest veterans service organization committed to advocating for the unique needs of every generation of veterans, servicemembers, and their families. With a focus on mental health support and community engagement, the organization empowers individuals to take action in preventing veteran suicide through peer-to-peer resources and various programs.

In addition to its advocacy efforts, the American Legion hosts youth programs such as American Legion Baseball, Boys Nation, and the Oratorical Contest, fostering leadership and sportsmanship among young participants. Through its community-driven initiatives, the organization has made a significant impact, securing record amounts in VA disability benefits and offering grants to support nonprofits aiding youth facing challenges.
