History
The Rock Island Conservation Club was founded on April 21, 1939 by seven men who saw a need for an organization to preserve local natural resources. In its beginnings the club was operated as a pheasant farm. Pheasants were hatched, raised, and then released into the wild. The donated land was originally a sand quarry owned by Moline Consumers Co. The club currently continues to promote and support to protect our natural resources, and volunteers for conservation-oriented organizations. The RICC is also one of the five organizations that comprise the Quad City Conservation Alliance (QCCA), which owns and operates the QCCA Expo Center.
Specialties
The Rock Island Conservation Club's purpose is to promote, support and protect our conservation resources, protect our wildlife's natural habitat, and to enable families to enjoy the natural resources within our local community. The Rock Island conservation club is a non profit, privately owned, volunteer run family orientated club located on 110 acres of land and has three lakes that provide over 70 acres of water. Our club donates our clubhouse and grounds to various organizations thru the year that embrace our mission.
