Marik-Baken Funeral Services Ltd was started in 2006. Barbara Marik Baken, our business's founder, president, and funeral director, is a fourth-generation funeral director. Barbara graduated as valedictorian from Worsham College of Mortuary Science and has honored by numerous awards for her contributions to the funeral industry. In the 2000s, when there was controversy in the industry, then Illinois Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka formed a funeral and cemetery ethics board, and Barbara was personally invited to sit on this board for her high degree of ethics in both business and funeral service. Barbara has advocated for ethics and transparency in her industry and has led by example.
