As a high school student interested in science, the day Daniel Boeder held a human heart in his hands during a visit to St. Louis University was the day he knew he wanted to be a doctor. Ultimately his focus became the human brain – child and adolescent psychiatry in particular. “I had family members who needed mental healthcare and didn’t know where to go or who to go to. I saw the need. Dealing with mental illness is a huge strain.
