Illinois Retina Associates: E. Anne Shepherd, MD

Dr. Sarah Syeda was born in Ireland and received a richly diverse international education. She spent her formative years attending an international school in Saudi Arabia before relocating to England for high school. From there, she went on to pursue her medical education at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. After earning her medical degree, she completed two years of clinical training as a Foundation House Officer with the National Health Service (NHS) in Scotland. Dr. Syeda went on to complete her ophthalmology residency at the Kresge Eye Institute in Michigan and completed her vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the renowned Illinois Retina Associates and chose to join the practice following her training.

Naryan Ryan Sabherwal, MD, developed an early respect for the practice of eyecare growing up as the son, grandson and nephew of optometrists and opticians, in Erie, PA. As a frequent witness to the gratitude his father patients expressed, he became acutely aware of the vital role that vision plays in everyone life. Dr. Sabherwal graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Health Sciences and a minor in Biology from James Madison University, and then attended Drexel University College of Medicine, in Philadelphia, where he was inducted into the AOA honors society. Dr. Sabherwal did his residency at Loyola University Medical Center, where he was elected Chief Resident, in his final year.
