Southport Elementary School enrolls more than 450 students in prekindergarten through grade five. It operates several academic departments, such as reading, language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. The school additionally has fine arts, music and physical education specialists. The Herban Produce Farm Experience is a journey through an urban farm on Chicago's west side. Guests will learn about various growing methods used at the farm including in-ground agriculture, vertical agriculture and hydroponics. To round out the tour, guest will be able to do a test of several crops harvested each week and be able to purchase additional produce to take with after the tour.
