Heart of Illinois Harvest (HOIH) is a not-for-profit food rescue program dedicated to transporting surplus food to local agencies for free distribution to those in need throughout Central Illinois. With the support of the Good Samaritan Act, HOIH operates through donations and in-kind services, employing a dedicated team of approximately 40 volunteers.

Each week, HOIH successfully rescues about 4-7 tons of surplus food from various donors, including restaurants, grocery stores, hospitals, and schools. This initiative plays a crucial role in addressing food insecurity in the region by ensuring that excess food is redirected to those who need it most.
