Alfonso Bello, MD

Dr. Carla Gamez is a podiatrist (a medical specialist who diagnoses and treats foot disorders) who provides care for the full spectrum of foot problems, including Sever’s disease, hammer toe, Achilles tendon, arthritis, plantar fasciitis, fractures and diabetic foot infections. She offers patients a range of treatments, from ointments and orthotics (shoe inserts) to physical therapy and cheilectomy, a surgical procedure to clean out arthritic joints and restore the foot to function. She speaks fluent Spanish and participates in health fairs and other activities to promote the health and wellness of the local Hispanic community.

Dr. Leon S. Benson completed a Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery fellowship at Harvard. He is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and Chief of the Division of Hand Surgery at NorthShore University HealthSystem. Dr. Benson earned his medical degree and completed residency training at Northwestern University. He is also a Professor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Actively involved in academic medicine, Dr. Benson has authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles, a textbook, and numerous book chapters. He is an Associate Editor for The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and contributes to national board exam development. In his free time, he trains his therapy dog, Cruise.

Dr. Van Stamos is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in adult hip and knee reconstruction and total joint replacement from the prestigious Otto E. Aufranc Fellowship. IBJI’s Chief Medical Officer since 2022, he has served Chicagoland patients for over 20 years, specializing in hip and knee replacements, revision surgeries, and regenerative treatments like stem cell and PRP therapies. Certified in MAKO robotic surgery, Dr. Stamos combines advanced techniques with compassionate, collaborative care. Outside of work, he enjoys skiing, cycling, and time with his family.
