On your way down from Haleakala Makawao is a short distance away. Your timing needs to be right, ours wasn't this trip. Why? Komoda Bakery was closed so no giant cream puffs for us, oh well......
Quint village in the upcountry with lots of great little shops and restaurants. When you're tired of the beach (yeah right!) or just need a break from the heat, it's a short jaunt up the volcano.
