Dr. Jawad Ilyas received a combined bachelor of medicine and surgery from Allama Iqbal Medical College and University of Health Sciences in Lahore, Pakistan. After coming to the United States, Dr. Ilyas completed his residency in internal medicine at Michigan State University where he received the Resident Investigator of the Year award. He then went on to complete his fellowship in transplant hepatology and second fellowship in gastroenterology from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Ilyas has been published in many peer-reviewed journals, including the American Journal of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Gastroenterology, Journal of Hepatology, Clinics in Liver Disease, and Gastroenterology Clinics of North America. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Association for Study of Liver Diseases, American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, and Texas Society for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy. Dr. Ilyas has a special interest in both general and transplant hepatology as well as general gastroenterology. He has received specialized training in management of complex liver problems including viral hepatitis, metabolic, genetic and autoimmune liver diseases. Sharon Yu, MS, MD, earned her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA and completed her residency in general surgery at Atlanta Medical Center. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and masters in physiology from Virginia Commonwealth University. Prior to joining Piedmont Physicians, Dr. Yu completed her fellowship in abdominal transplant fellowship at Emory University Hospital. She is interested in both liver and kidney transplant and is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Transplant Surgeons and the American Society of Transplantation. Dr. Yu specializes in liver and kidney transplantation as well as living donor kidney nephrectomy. In her spare time, Dr. Yu enjoys spending time with family and friends, eating, yoga and watching college sports. Dr. Yu is accepting new patients and welcomes most major insurance plans.
