The Learning Brook Academy
HistoryI have over 14 years of childcare experience. Additionally, between 2006-2014, I taught students in grades PreK-12, both as part of my undergraduate work and as an employee for my local school district (Duval County, Florida and Dekalb County, Georgia). My experiences teaching in the public school system were immeasurably valuable to me. In addition to the incredible wealth of opportunities working with a variety of students in unique circumstances, I gleaned a rich understanding of the expectations that face today's children as they move from preschool into their academic careers. Many of these expectations are wonderful, valid, and important. However, without an already established joy of learning, these expectations can stifle creativity and impose obstacles to self-expression and confidence. My experiences taught me that free-thinking and confident children are the most successful. That is why I founded The Learning Brook Academy. - Shannon Turner, FounderSpecialtiesThe Learning Brook Academy is a unique, in-home daycare and preschool program located in Cobb County, offering flexible enrollment in hourly increments (drop-in), full time, or part time. Whether your child is with us for one hour or forty, each child shapes and influences the learning environment and is a very special part of our classroom community. The program at The Learning Brook Academy is designed to foster confidence, self-esteem and excitement for learning which shapes how children approach academics, relationships with others, and the world of opportunities before them for the rest of their lives. Activities include daily sign language enrichment, weekly cooking club, gardening and harvesting fruits and vegetables, and more.
