Since 1972, gmcf has been providing medical peer review and consultating services, utilization and quality management review services for Medicaid programs. It is a physician-sponsored organization that assists physician offices, hospitals, nursing homes and home health agencies in adopting and implementing systems, redesigning processes and developing organizational cultures. The organization works with physician practices in Georgia to improve care by promoting evidence-based clinical guidelines related to diabetes, and also provides preventive guidelines for breast cancer, influenza and pneumonia. The organization maintains a physician consultant roster of more than 300 practicing Georgia physicians who represent over 50 medical specialties, and are utilized to support medical peer review and utilization management functions. Located in Atlanta, gmcf provides an oversight role for the Georgia Nurse Aide Program, and maintains a medical agency and referral network for Medicaid members and providers.
