Thomas Morrissey, M.D., FACOG, FACS, is director of gynecologic oncology at the Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute, a part of Baptist Health South Florida. He is a specialist in the surgical and chemotherapeutic treatment of ovarian, uterine, cervical and other female genital tract cancers. Dr. Morrissey has extensive experience in robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery and radical surgical procedures to treat gynecologic cancers. He has additional interest and expertise in the treatment of patients with a genetic predisposition toward the development of ovarian and uterine cancers, as well as in the prevention and treatment of HPV-related precancerous changes and cancers of the cervix, vagina and vulva, including evaluation and treatment of abnormal Pap smears.Dr. Morrissey joined the Lynn Cancer Institute from Cleveland Clinic Florida, where he was the head of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology. He also served as clinical assistant professor of surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University. He will continue his position as clinical affiliate associate professor at Florida Atlantic University Schmidt College of Medicine.Dr. Morrissey has been recognized with a number of awards and honors. He was named the Administrative Chief Resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Magee-Womens Hospital, a Clinical Teaching Fellow at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and a recipient of the Irene McLenahan Young Investigator Award at Magee-Womens Research Institute. His research has been published in peer-reviewed publications, including Cancer, Gynecologic Oncology and Current Problems in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Fertility. Dr. Morrissey is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American College of Surgeons. He is a full member of the Society of Gynecology Oncologists. Dr. Morrissey's approach to patient care includes immediate availability for consultation with patients with newly diagnosed or suspected gynecologic cancers so patients can start treatment as soon as possible. He offers state of the art care, including robotic-assisted or radical surgical treatment when appropriate. He also collaborates with other members of the gynecologic oncology team to determine the best treatment options. Dr. Morrissey prioritizes patient education and the care of not only the patient, but also their family regarding the diagnosis and the treatment plan chosen to maximize the chance for a cure. He also integrates and collaborates with supportive care services, including social work and palliative care, to improve each patient's quality of life. When he is not treating patients, Dr. Morrissey enjoys playing and watching soccer, basketball and golf, and spending time with his wife and three daughters.

Rachel Lynne Slotcavage, MD

Rachel L. Slotcavage, M.D., M.Ed., FACS, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained endocrine surgeon at the Eugene M. and Christine E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University. Prior to joining Baptist Health, she was an endocrine surgeon and associate professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology and the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. Dr. Slotcavage earned her medical degree at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and remained at the University of Pennsylvania to complete a postdoctoral research fellowship in musculoskeletal oncology. She performed her general surgery internship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Pennsylvania and completed residency at Cooper University Hospital in New Jersey, where she served as chief resident. Dr. Slotcavage found her passion in endocrine surgery and completed her subspecialty fellowship training in this area at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. Dr. Slotcavage has published her research, including involvement with clinical trials, in peer-reviewed medical journals and has presented clinical and educationally focused work at national and international symposiums. She also contributes to the scientific community by serving as an editor and reviewer for several medical journals and a member and committee member of several professional organizations. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Patient education is important to Dr. Slotcavage. To enable her patients to make the best decisions about their healthcare, she spends time helping them understand the disease process and the rationale behind the recommended therapy. This helps patients feel more empowered and better able to cope with uncomfortable symptoms or frequent appointments for treatment. Dr. Slotcavage is an avid cyclist, participating in road, cyclocross, and gravel cycling. She is also an avid baseball fan. She roots for her hometown Phillies and is on a quest to visit all 30 Major League Baseball parks. When she has spare time, Dr. Slotcavage enjoys reading and building Legos.

Zdenka Ena Segota, M.D., is a board-certified hematologist oncologist with the Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health, at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. Her clinical interests include breast cancer and hematologic malignancies such as lymphoma and myeloma. Dr. Segota has extensive research experience, putting her at the forefront of innovations in cancer care. During her career, she has served as principal investigator or sub-investigator on numerous clinical trials that have resulted in the development of many new oncology medications. These studies aim to improve patients’ pre-surgical and post-surgical outcomes as well as metastatic cancer survival rates. Dr. Segota earned her medical degree at the University of Zagreb, School of Medicine in Croatia. She completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Cleveland Clinic Health System, Huron Hospital. Her extensive training also includes a hematology and medical oncology fellowship and experimental therapeutics research fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center, Taussig Cancer Institute. Dr. Segota enjoys connecting and interacting with her patients and believes that every person deserves to receive an individual approach to cancer care. She offers patients precision medicine through genomic testing. This type of testing identifies disease-associated variants to help match patients to more personalized therapies or assess a patient’s disease risk and help target more effective therapies.
