Obstetrics & Gynecology is a specialty that embodies multiple aspects of medicine, including internal medicine, emergency medicine, surgery, and office preventative care, to name a few. Along with this, I was drawn to the unique doctor-patient relationship that comes with caring for a uniquely intimate part of a woman's life found in pregnancy and gynecologic care. I started as an employee of a large corporation which has become commonplace in today's competitive healthcare industry. I quickly realized that quality, personalized care is compromised as corporations see patients and employees as numbers. I felt like private practice would allow me the opportunity to restore the doctor-patient relationship that is often lost with corporate medicine.
