He received his undergraduate degree in biology from University of South Carolina-Honors College in Columbia, South Carolina, and earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed a General Surgery internship at Charity Hospital in New Orleans and his Orthopaedic surgery residency at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina.
