HistoryVeterinary Surgical Specialists was started as Veterinary Veterinary Services by Dr. Callum Hay, an ACVS board certified small animal surgeon, in 2000. It began as a mobile practice and rapidly grew into a fixed practice in Tampa, FL in 2001. VSS opened it's doors at the current facility, located at 7512 Paula Dr. in Tampa, in 2004. Dr. Leslie Thomas, also an ACVS board certified small animal surgeon, joined the practice in 2011.SpecialtiesAdvanced specialty surgeries for dogs and cats, including but not limited to: knee surgeries(TTA, TPLO, extra-capsular repair, Tightrope), hip surgeries, TPO, patellar repair, fractures, spinal surgeries, total hip and knee replacements, GI surgeries, ENT surgeries such as for chronic ear infections, laryngeal paralysis and oral tumors, thyroid surgery, mass removal, hernia repair, bladder surgery, perineal urethrostomy, thoracic surgery and wound management.
