Aviva Abosch, MD

Alvaro Gomez, M.D., FACC, is an interventional cardiologist who has more than 25 years of experience in his field. He specializes in diagnosing and treating a wide range of cardiovascular diseases as well as congenital and structural heart conditions through catheter-based procedures, such as angioplasty and stenting. Dr. Gomez also specializes in cardio-oncology. His clinical interests include nuclear cardiac stress testing and the prevention and management of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure and valvular heart disease. Dr. Gomez has conducted numerous clinical research trials on the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease and published articles in various peer-reviewed medical journals. He is fluent in English and Spanish.

Guilherme Dabus, M.D., is the co-director of interventional neuroradiology at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute. Dr. Dabus specializes in interventional neuroradiology and neuroendovascular surgery. He is fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish. Prior to joining Miami Neuroscience Institute in 2021, Dr. Dabus served as an attending interventional neuroradiologist at Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute and interim Chief of Neuroscience at Baptist Health Baptist Hospital from 2019 to 2020. Active in training the next generation of physicians, Dr. Dabus is the director of the Interventional Neuroradiology Fellowship Program at Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute and Miami Neuroscience Institute. He is also a clinical professor in the Department of Neuroscience at Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine of Florida International University. Dr. Dabus has served as the local principal investigator for several clinical trials and is the national co-PI for the SUMMIT MAX trial. His research has been published more than 120 times in peer-reviewed publications, including Stroke, the Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery, Neuroradiology, AJNR, Neurosurgery, Journal of Neurosurgery, Handbook of Clinical Neurology and Frontiers in Neurology. He has also authored several chapters for medical textbooks. Dr. Dabus is a leader in his field and serves on the board of directors of the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery, where he currently holds the position of treasurer. He was the chair of the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery Annual Meeting held in 2018 in San Francisco. Dr. Dabus serves as a reviewer for numerous publications, including the Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery, Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery, Journal of Endovascular Therapy, Stroke, American Journal of Neuroradiology and Interventional Neuroradiology. He is also a sought-after speaker and regularly presents at national and international events. Dr. Dabus’ approach to patient care is to treat all his patients as they were his own family members. When he is not treating patients, Dr. Dabus enjoys spending time with his family, reading, studying music and arts.

Italo Linfante, M.D, is the co-director of interventional neuroradiology at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute. Dr. Linfante specializes in endovascular procedures and interventional neuroradiology. He is fluent in English and Italian. Dr. Linfante joined Miami Neuroscience Institute from Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, where he served as medical director of interventional neuroradiology. He is currently a clinical professor of radiology and neuroscience at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University. He previously served as an associate professor of neurology and radiology in the University of Massachusetts’ Section of Neuroendovascular Surgery/Interventional Neuroradiology and was attending physician in Neuro Endovascular Surgery at Boston Medical Center. Dr. Linfante has participated in major clinical trials in medications and device-related technology to treat stroke and other cerebrovascular diseases. He has lectured nationally and internationally on related topics. Dr. Linfante has been a member of the Editorial Board of the scientific journal Stroke since 2002 and an associate editor for the Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery. He has also been an editor for several other major peer-reviewed medical journals in neurosurgery and neuroradiology. He is the author of scientific articles published in peer-reviewed journals such as Stroke, Neurology, Neurosurgery and the Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery. He has published numerous book chapters and books on stroke and cerebrovascular diseases. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Medical Specialties in Neurology and Vascular Neurology and Diplomate in NeuroEndovascular Surgery from the American Academy of Neurological Surgeons (AANS). Dr. Linfante holds several leadership positions in neuroendovascular surgery. He is a founding member and was president of the Society for Interventional Neurology (SVIN). He also served on the Executive Committee of the Society for Neuro Interventional Surgery (SNIS). He has been the chairman of several sessions and scientific symposiums of the American Heart Association (AHA) and American Stroke Association (ASA). In addition, he served as chairman and faculty of the annual meeting of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology, and the International Symposium of Endovascular Therapy (ISET). He has received numerous awards, including the Fellow of the American Heart Association (FAHA) and Stroke Council, Cum Laude Award of the American Society of Neuroradiology, Cor Vitae Award from the American Heart Association and others. When he is not treating patients, Dr. Linfante enjoys running, tennis, swimming, music, playing the guitar and traveling.
