Arena Stage

Arena Stage is the largest nonprofit theatre in Washington, D.C. Its performances include American classics, new American plays and works in progress. Arena Stage attracts an annual audience of more than 250,000 patrons and 25,000 students. The 120-seat Old Vat Room is a flexible-format stage where Arena presents works in development through the downstairs in the Old Vat Room series. Arena Stage was the first regional theater to transfer a production to Broadway; the first invited by the United States State Department to tour in Russia; and the first to receive a Tony Award. Its productions for the 2006 season include "Cabaret," "Nine Parts of Desire," "A Civil War Christmas," "Noises Off," "Gem of the Ocean" and "The Heidi Chronicles."
