Delaware Department of Transportation provides transportation services for the movement of people and goods. It offers a wide range of community programs and services. The department offers a free e-mail subscription service that allows its Web site visitors to sign up to receive e-mail notification of press releases, real time travel advisory, road closures and restrictions, awarded projects, and public hearings and workshops. Its Adopt-A-Bike Path program is a partnership between the Delaware Department of Transportation and volunteers to make the state s bike paths cleaner and safer for pedestrians and bicyclists. The program also works to educate citizens of all ages about the responsibilities of land stewardship and about alternative forms of transportation. The department s transportation enhancements program provides funding for nontraditional, transportation-related projects, including installing sidewalks, preserving scenic and historic areas, rehabilitating historic buildings and renovating streetscapes.
