The Hazardous Waste Personnel Training program focuses on familiarizing the facility personnel with emergency procedures and handling of equipment and systems. It includes procedures for using, inspecting, repairing and replacing facility emergency and monitoring equipment, as well as response to groundwater contamination incidents. The program also provides training on key parameters for automatic waste feed cutoff systems, shutdown of operations, evacuation procedures and response to fires, explosions and the release of hazardous waste constituents. The Hazardous Waste Personnel Training program meets the requirements of Occupational Safety and Health program, as well as the standards of the National Fire Prevention Association. The program is conducted by the Waste Engineering and Enforcement Division of the Department of Environment Protection of the state of Connecticut, which is located in Hartford, Conn.
