In 1860, George C. Shaw opened his first store in Portland, Maine. In addition, Shaw s provides artificial preservatives and additives, nutritional supplements, batteries, light bulbs, disposable cameras and household products. Shaw's Supermarkets maintains a location in East Hartford, Conn.
