Dr. Hunninghake is originally from Iowa. He earned a Bachelor degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Medical Anthropology at Long Island University, followed by his Medical degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. Following his education, he moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to complete a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at the University of Utah. Dr. Hunninghake always loved learning about people and wanted to have a career where he could work directly with them to help improve the quality of their lives."I believe we all have activities in our lives that give us meaning and purpose. My job is to help people with disabilities reach their best level of functioning so that they may return to those activities that bring them joy and meaning."As a physiatrist, Dr. Hunninghake enjoys working with people to help address their functional concerns. When he is not at work, Dr. Hunninghake enjoys trail running, playing music with friends, photography and chasing after his two young boys.

His clinical interests include the non-operative management of musculoskeletal and neurologic conditions, ranging from joint, muscle, and sports injuries to more significant illnesses, such as spinal cord injury, post-stroke care, spasticity management, post-amputation management, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy and multiple sclerosis."Utilizing a multi-modal and individualized approach, I strive to help patients maximize their functional abilities with the goal of improving their quality of life. Helping patients return to the hobbies and recreational activities they love is what I find most rewarding."When Dr. Willis is not practicing medicine, he enjoys playing golf, biking, hiking, skiing and traveling with his wife and son.
