Established in 1990, 5Star Bank provides worldwide banking services that include checking and money market accounts, nationwide residential mortgage loans, traditional and Roth IRAs and CDs. The bank is best known for its nationally recognized credit card programs and offering platinum and classic no-fee Visa and MasterCard credit cards. The bank is a division of AFBA, an agency that has paid death claims to the beneficiaries of its members serving in Korean, Vietnam and Persian Gulf wars. AFBA was established in 1947 with the approval of Secretary of War Robert Patterson. AFBA covers nearly 300,000 members with over $36 billion of insurance in force. Claims paid exceed $1 billion.
