Curious what all the fuss is about glamping? Now’s your chance to learn firsthand at Healdsburg's first glamping resort, Wildhaven Sonoma, which opened its tent doors last year on the banks of the Russian River in Alexander Valley. Wildhaven’s glamping experience was designed to provide guests with comfort, warmth, and cleanliness, while still maintaining a close connection to Sonoma County’s stunning natural beauty. Spending a night outdoors with family or friends shouldn’t be stressful or complicated, requiring considerable gear, knowledge, or even experience. Wildhaven's mission is to encourage people of all types to get outdoors more often and experience the mind and body benefits of a night in nature. Guests book glamping tents by the night, like they would book a hotel room. They check in to extra-large, safari-style tent cabins with comfortable beds (with linens & heated mattress pads), electricity & heaters, wifi, and all the furnishings needed for a memorable night outdoors. Outside the tent, guests have a personal fire pit, a covered porch with patio furniture, and a large picnic table. Those seeking more comfort and features can book tents with 2-person hammocks, festive string lights, and unobstructed views towards the Mayacamas mountains. Then there are the amenities, which are not typically found at traditional campgrounds. These include a clean, updated bathroom building, hot showers, an outdoor kitchen with dish-washing sinks and gas BBQs, a store with local treats, and activities such as yoga classes, stargazing, wine tasting, and live music. The highlight of the 10-acre property, however, is the private river access afforded to guests. Wildhaven’s section of the Russian River is calm yet clean, has both shallow and deep sections, and is incredibly scenic with frequent wildlife sightings. Parents, in particular, appreciate the slower, narrower, and less crowded river access than is available closer to Guerneville.
