The Ventura County District Attorney s office operates through several divisions, including criminal prosecutions, special prosecutions and a bureau of investigation. The division that oversees criminal prosecutions consists of a unit dedicated to major crimes, a juvenile unit, a general felony and misdemeanor unit, a unit dedicated to cases of sexual assault and family protection and a unit devoted to providing litigation support. The division that oversees special prosecutions deals with computer crimes, major acts of fraud, workers compensation fraud, consumer fraud and environmental protection, special investigations, asset forfeiture, a fish and game unit, code enforcement and a restitution program for checks written with insufficient funds. The division also encompasses clerical support services, a fiscal and administrative unit and office systems. The department s investigative division provides advanced litigation support and specialized investigations of criminal and civil matters. The Ventura County District Attorney is headquartered in Ventura, Calif.
