The State Bar of California

Created by the state legislature in 1927, the State Bar of California is a public corporation within the judicial branch of government, serving as an arm of the California Supreme Court. Membership in the association affords attorneys the right and privilege of practicing law in the state. The bar's integrated network of functions and services protects the public and assists attorneys in meeting their professional obligations. The organization offers a variety of legal educational programs, including antitrust and unfair competition, business, criminal, environmental, family law, intellectual property, international, labor and employment, law practice management and technology, litigation, public law, real property law, solo and small firm operations, taxation, trusts and estates and workers compensation law. The State Bar of California maintains its headquarters in San Francisco and has offices in Los Angeles and Sacramento.
