Founded in 1972, Rutherford Hill Winery is one of the leading wineries in the Napa Valley. Based in Rutherford, Calif., the company is involved in the development of California Merlot, its flagship wine, with majority part of its production dedicated to this. Rutherford Hill Winery farms a 60-acre, estate-and-vineyard and has another 130 acres under a controlling lease. In addition, the winery sources premium fruit from a network of selected Napa Valley grape growers. In a year, 8,000 wine-filled French and American oak barrels age in an wine-storage environment of 59 degrees Fahrenheit/90-percent humidity.
