Orange County Environmental Health Department

Orange County Environmental Health, located in Santa Ana, Calif., is one of the programs of the Orange County Health Care Agency. It focuses on the inspection of retail and wholesale food facilities. The program also promotes safe and sanitary preparation and service of food, and prevents food-borne illnesses. It also focuses on protecting consumers from adulterated, mislabeled and fraudulently advertised food products. Orange County Environmental Health s staff includes registered environmental health specialists who inspect more than 11,000 food establishments throughout Orange County, such as restaurants, bakeries and vending machines. Its staff also inspects wholesale food processing plants, food trucks, food carts, and hospital kitchens.
