Oakland Venue Management

History

We draw upon the foundation of over 20 years of experience creating and managing a variety of special event facilities, cultural arts venues and festivals in Oakland, California. Our history as facilitators of arts and entertainment programming and special event management is rooted deeply in the Oakland community where our two founders met in 2001 at the non-profit community arts venue known as the Oakland Box Theater (OBT). Over the years, the OVM team has been instrumental in operations of event venues and community benefit districts throughout the community including 2232 MLK, Historic Sweet's Ballroom, the Kaiser Center, the Fox Theater, the Cathedral Event Center at the Cathedral of Christ the Light, the Bridge Yard, the Downtown Oakland Community Benefit District, and the Lake Merritt-Uptown Community Benefit District.

We are more than a venue management company - we are a project management company that offers event and production services to support client programming across a variety of industries. Oakland Venue Management (OVM) specializes in sound system rentals, venue and event management, event sales and booking, production coordination, and facilities operations. Our primary goal is to support our client's vision for their venue or event and bring that vision to life through collaboration and thoughtful engagement with the larger community. We are creative placemakers and culture keepers.
