A little about the Owners..... The Wackman Family, Marilyn Wackman and her three sons, Howard III, Michael and Alan, a fifth generation farming family in the Elk Grove area, own and operate the Wackman Ranch. In 1993, they planted their first grapes. They had an idea that the red clay soils in Elk Grove, CA would produce a full flavored unique wine, and they did. Now, there are over 650 acres of grapes on the Wackman Ranch. Varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Barbera, Merlot, Petite Syrah, Syrah, Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. In 2001, the three brothers along with their families decided it was time to make their own wines, so they embarked on the adventure of building their own winery. McConnell Estates Winery. We are currently serving 8 varieties of wine, Chardonnay, Tempranillo, Zinfandel, Barbera, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petite Syrah.
