Welcome to Matthews Home Style Cooking where we serve delicious soul food/ southern breakfast, lunch dinner, fried chicken, beef burgers, pork chop, oxtails, short ribs, mac & cheese and more! In honor of Douglas Matthews, who was originally from Louisiana with a dream to someday open a soul food restaurant in Los Angeles. Mr. Matthews was a chef in the military for 30 years. While stationed in Germany he had the opportunity to open his first soul food restaurant. He had people lining up a block long waiting to enjoy his down home cooking. Fast forward 20 years later he finally made his way to Los Angeles. Unfortunately, before he had the opportunity to open his doors he past away in 1996. Although this was a major blow to his family this sadness was turned into something positive with opening of Matthews Home Style Cooking. Fortunately, all of his recipes was passed down to the next generation of Matthews. Everything is made from scratch. We welcome you & your family to ours.
