The Ione Public Cemetery, established in 1850, serves as the only public cemetery within the boundaries of Township #2 Ione Public Cemetery District in Ione, California. This historic site is the final resting place for some of the earliest residents of Calaveras and Amador County, including notable figures such as actors Albert Theodore William Courtright and his wife Mary Jan Jennie Lee Courtright.
Divided into an older section with family plots and a newer grassy area featuring flat markers, the cemetery also includes a mausoleum and a columbarium for cremains. Visitors can enjoy views of the nearby Preston Castle and Charles Howard Park, adding a serene atmosphere to this tranquil resting place.
