History
Melanie spent seven years in clinical practice at the University of Chicago Medical Center in the intensive care units. She served as the adult and pediatric burn and neonatal intensive care (NICU) unit dietitian. In the NICU she had the opportunity to care for patients from birth into the NICU setting until they were three years old as outpatients. Outpatient counseling became her passion and she started Feeding Philosophies as a way to expand her practice in pediatrics.
Specialties
Feeding Philosophies provides pediatric nutrition counseling and lactation consulting by a registered dietitian (RD) and internationally board certified lactation consultant (IBCLC). Counseling topics can include help with picky eaters, poor weight gain, obesity, food allergies and intolerances, meal and snack ideas, sports nutrition and disordered eating. Lactation consulting addresses breastfeeding management throughout all stages of lactation. Consultations are available over the phone or on Skype nationwide.
