Established in 1980, Area 1 Agency in Aging develops and provides a wide range of volunteer and caregiver services in Humboldt and Del Norte counties. The A1AA works to find funding sources for the senior community through grants and fundraising. Agency staff provides information at support groups, health fairs, professional organizations and other community groups. Today the Eureka Rescue Mission is comprised of a [ Women & Children's Shelter ] which offers housing for approximately 35 women and children, a [ Men's Shelter ] which houses 90 men, a [ Thrift Store ], a [ Free Store ] and the Business Office. Services at the Men's Shelter have been expanded to include the [ Men's New Life Discipleship Program ]. A women's program is being prayerfully considered for future expansion at the Women & Children's Shelter.
