Good website support! I learnt online that you can use the visa on an old/expired passport if the visa is not expired in six months. This saved me a trip to SF.

Tip: bring a birth certificate if you were born as a US citizen. This wasn't listed online, but it's on the paper they pass out when they scan your bag. We got there around 10:30am to line up....

For anyone applying for a Chinese visa, the process is definitely unpleasant. Their website is not up to date and there is not a phone number to directly ask for help. The appointment system....
