The City of American Canyon maintains the American Canyon Police Department, which was incorporated in 1992 and is a full-service law enforcement agency. The police department works to preserve human lives and property, protect public peace and the rights of citizens, prevent crime and disorder and enforce federal laws. The city also operates the American Canyon Napa County Library, which provide free and equal access to public library facilities, information resources and services that enable the public to acquire information, pursue learning, explore ideas, and experience recreational and cultural enrichment. The City of American Canyon additionally has finance, human resources, planning and building, public works and transit departments. It maintains its administrative office in American Canyon, Calif.
