History

The Boathouse at Hendry's Beach is the newest venture of the Santa Barbara Shellfish Company family, which began on Stearn's Wharf in 1980. Back then we were a fresh seafood wholesale operation that began experimenting with some different cooking ideas. The Shellfish Co became a popular place for lunch specializing in steamed crab, local lobster and ridgeback shrimp. In 1999, we opened the FisHouse on Cabrillo, our first venture into the full dining arena. Now we look to complete the trio with the Boathouse, and continue our commitment to serving fresh local product, and sourcing the finest seafood anywhere.
