BlueSkies for Children

Association of Children's Services, a private, nonprofit, program founded in 1983, is committed to providing support systems to children and their families. It is the only NAEYC-accredited child-care center in Oakland and includes one of the most multicultural and diverse full-time child-care centers in the Bay Area. It is therefore a good learning-ground for teachers studying early childhood education in the adult NAC program. Each year 85 children benefit from the Children s Program at AOCS. They come from families in Oakland, Berkeley, Orinda, Moraga, Walnut Creek, San Leandro and San Francisco. Children of color, most multi-cultural, make up almost half the enrollment. Children from non-traditional families are welcomed, as are children with special needs and children whose families require financial assistance for enrollment. Balanced attention is provided for all areas of the child's development -- physical, social, emotional and cognitive. AOCS is located in Oakland, Calif.
