Founded in 1972, Friendship Community Care is a private, nonprofit organization that serves individuals with developmental disabilities in more than 10 counties of the Arkansas River Valley region and waiver services in Arkansas. The organization offers services to people who are suffering with mental retardation, epilepsy, cerebral palsy and similar disorders. It provides supports and services to individuals and families that will allow them to be independent and productive citizens. Friendship Community Care serves over 500 individuals in a fifteen-county area in Arkansas. The organization has a vehicle transportation system that provides access to a general community, programs, school-age services, medical appointments and recreation. Friendship Community Care also operates technology, nursing and training departments. The Arkansas National Guard Youth Challenge Program is a free program that aims to help young people aged 16-18 in Arkansas better prepare for their future. Through instilling self-discipline, motivation, honor, respect, anger management, and other character traits, the program helps students develop important life skills and values. Participants have the opportunity to earn their Arkansas High School Diploma or GED, as well as scholarships to attend colleges and trade schools. The program holds two classes per year, starting in mid-January and mid-July, and is funded by both State and Federal funds. With a mission to intervene and reclaim the lives of young individuals, the Arkansas National Guard Youth Challenge Program strives to produce graduates who possess the necessary skills, education, values, and self-discipline to succeed as productive citizens.Generated from the website
