Dr. Cornelius focuses on a holistic approach to care, integrating mental health and medical health together in order to appreciate the role each has in improving the overall well-being of a person. He explores a person's strengths and successes in order to apply them to future challenges. In addition to general mental health issues he is a psychiatric consultant to persons with liver and kidney disease and assists in evaluating both organ donors and organ recipients before and after transplantation surgery.

Spending time and collecting a comprehensive history is important in investigating the potential mental health issues that may be impacting an individual's life. My primary focus is on medication management utilizing evidence based treatment. However, psychotherapy is often a critical component of recovery and therefore I refer out to different therapists. I believe in empowering patients by educating them about their mental illness and discussing different treatment options so they can make informed decisions.

I enjoy working collaboratively with patients and their family/support system and therapists in the hopes of helping patients obtain the best response to treatment and attain the highest functional level possible.
