Community Services Department of the city of Peoria, Ariz., is responsible for maintaining developing the city s parks, libraries, sports and recreation centers.. The city has more than 20 neighborhood and community parks, recreational facilities and regional parks and facilities. The parks offer amenities, such as walk and jog paths, drinking fountains, multipurpose turf area, basketball and tennis courts, restrooms and off-street parking. The recreation programs offered include after school enrichment programs, aquatics, preschool, senior adult programs, teen programs, and youth and adult sports program. Sports programs offered include flag football, basketball, soccer, in-line hockey, baseball, volleyball, softball and baseball. Additionally, the department offers several recreational opportunities for developmentally disabled individuals, such as dances, bowling, running club and Special Olympics. Several special events are also planned throughout the year for the citizens that include activities, such as face painting, children's snow play area, food booths, puppet shows and fireworks.
